HIV Experience Resources Organization (HERO), is a non-profit 501(3)(c) organization. HERO was founded by Michael Cavnaugh, former Vice President of Event Presentation at Madison Square Garden, who realized there was not an online resource to navigate a complicated system to get help if you are newly diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.

"Our mission at HERO is to empower individuals affected by HIV/AIDS through three core initiatives:

Firstly, we connect individuals worldwide with essential local, national, and international resources upon diagnosis and throughout their journey with HIV/AIDS.

Secondly, we amplify the visibility and impact of our esteemed partners, including Broadway Cares, Equity Fights AIDS, The Actors Fund, GMHC, Callen-Lorde Medical, The LGBT Center of New York, Housing Works, The Jed Foundation, Pflag, The Point Foundation, and others, to enhance community support and access to vital services.

Thirdly, we advocate for the promotion of safe sex practices through extensive media coverage and engaging with influential figures. We emphasize the significance of sexual health, mental wellness, and overall well-being for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Together, we strive to create a supportive and informed community dedicated to health, resilience, and empowerment."
